IAMRA Policies
IAMRA Policies have been approved by the Members General Assembly. They are provided as guidance to IAMRA membership and are not mandates. Accordingly, they are often written as "Statements".
All IAMRA Policies must be read in conjunction with the following:
- IAMRA’s Purpose: to promote effective medical regulation worldwide by supporting best practice, innovation, collaboration and knowledge sharing in the interest of public safety and in support of the medical profession, and
- That IAMRA does not promote a particular model of medical regulation, recognizing that models are influenced by the structure of the health care system, the legal framework in which regulatory authorities operate and the resources available. Nevertheless, member Medical Regulatory Authorities have shared objectives: to protect patients by employing effective regulatory tools to manage risk and to ensure that doctors are fit to practice and contribute to the provision of high-quality health care.
Board Policies
To remain responsive to our membership and the changing international environment, the IAMRA Board of Directors (‘the Board’) may develop and issue non-binding advice and guidance to Members and Partners on relevant contemporary issues in medical and health practitioner regulation. These are provided as Board Statements and are not considered IAMRA Policies until they have been approved by the Members General Assembly.
The Board also publishes Governance and Operational policies, statements, and guidelines as part its general governance responsibilities for IAMRA between meetings of the Members General Assembly.
IAMRA Policies have been approved by the Members General Assembly. These policies are provided as guidance to members and are not mandates. In order to remain responsive to the membership, there are times when IAMRA may wish to release statements that could be helpful to members in between Assemblies. These statements are provided as Management Committee Statements and are not considered IAMRA policy until they have been approved by the Members General Assembly.
