IAMRA Physician Information Exchange (PIE)

The Physician Information Exchange (PIE) is part of IAMRA’s ongoing efforts to support and encourage the exchange of information among medical regulatory authorities for the purpose of global patient safety. All IAMRA members have access to this resource and are encouraged to interrogate the database about any doctors applying for a license within their jurisdiction and to enter information about doctors who have had significant regulatory sanctions taken against them and may try to become licensed in another country

A recent international investigation, led by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and 48 media partners across 46 countries—including Canada’s Investigative Journalism Bureau, the Times of London, VG of Norway, Le Monde, ZDF, Der Spiegel, and others – has revealed how some physicians have evaded accountability by moving between jurisdictions, exploiting gaps in regulatory communication.

As part of this investigation, this article specifically mentions IAMRA’s PIE as a key solution to these challenges.

PIE has also been featured in many of our newsletters, and recent IAMRA webinars have focused on the importance of utilizing PIE, with case examples from the UK, New Zealand and the USA.

The PIE platform and other useful information including a Quick Start Guide and Guidelines are available on the members-only section of this website.

Please see PIE FAQs.

Please contact Sarah Heermans, IAMRA Director of Operations, at sheermans@iamra.com for more information and to register for the PIE.
